It seems there are enough birds that can be killed to keep the population managed. The local people are using them as scapegoats for human activities that are polluting the lake. The lake is quickly eutrifying on its own without human organic pollutants from farms and yards as well as the influx of Eurasian milfoil and God knows whatever invasives
So ignorant. The same as people who blame wolves when they feel there aren't enough deer. I have an idea...let's just kill every animal that is a predator of any kind of game species, that way there will be more left for us! If you have even a shred of knowledge of biology and ecosystems, you know this kind of thinking is ridiculous, yet it still continues in our state.
With animals around the planet going extinct at an alarming rate, the idea of killing a protected species because you THINK they're infringing upon your recreation is nauseating. Every one of those 3000 petition signers should be forced to take a class in the ecologic impact of species extinction. And ethics.
Typical hunters complaining about nature if it disrupts their so-called hobby.
Over reaction. Maybe we have too many anglers as well. Should we have open season on those also?
People like pan fish to and over fish them also.Guess its just easier to blame an animal than look at the big picture.
"With animals around the planet going extinct at an alarming rate" - really? Are you in a fifth grade social studies class? Cormorants are overpopulated, and need to be thinned. And don't even get me started on Canadian Geese - which are not canadian, they live on 'Tonka all year long. And in the parking lot at Ridgedale where you can run over those stupid things at will. My yooung daughter HATES geese, and LOVES to run them over! All you lefties - if you love flying rats called geese, come on over, and move them to YOUR backyard to enjoy!
Maybe you need to eat more vegetables
wait a minute now. Question: are walleye even native in Lake Waconia?
Or were they stocked by humans at some point? I honestly don't know. But if you gave me $20 and told me I had to bet it, I think I'd say that Waconia was stocked with walleye.
