nice but wont work. private security firms hire contracted workers, who in turn do not really care about getting the job done but rather collecting a measly pay check. they hire legal immigrants who know they are making crap wages.

This is the same security company where one of their upper managers claimed to be an ex-Navy Seal which was untrue. You get what you pay for.

Boy, does this seem like a bad idea. As a country, we're getting to point where we can't afford actual cops? So small towns have to hire rental cops to the nuts-and-bolts of police work? This just has the whiff of a society where the wheels are falling off because we just don't care anymore.

I think its funny that brainerdguy thinks its the republicans fault. So naive I bet the politicians that run that town are not republicans. Small town person with a small town brain, better up there then in the city good luck to you.

Privatize the Mayor of Foley's position. I bet there is someone willing to answer the phone during the week for minimum wage. They can bring the mayor in once a month to make decisions or call him if there's an emergency. How much would that save?

brainerdguy - this has nothing to do with who is in office. private security companies are shady from Baghdad to Grozny to Foley.

While I am all for controlling spending and smart spending, this might not be a wise move and frankly I'm glad I don't live in Foley.

The public employees Union is not going to like this.

85% of what the police do on a daily basis is a waste of time IMO...they could cut half of all police officers and stop pulling people over for minor infractions
