The Wild decided that Brett Bulmer needed big minutes and the opportunity to play in big situations, and his playing time in the NHL was decreasing.

I like Bulmer's hustle, but I guess it's for the better.

youngblood probably has it right...the way nick johnson has clicked with clutterbuck and brodziak caused this move. most of us fans would like to see bulmer out there instead of staubitz, but giving a 19 yr. old only 4th line minutes probably wouldn't do all that much for his development. gotta like the way this organization is accumulating young talent.

Much better for Bulmer to get more ice time, something that Sheppard should have gotten. Glad this admin is doing it right. It's definitely helped Gillies.

Bulmer is going to be a nice player. But, let him get his minutes. I like the way Johnson has looked. He knows how to make plays, he skates hard and uses his body. A nice surprise out of him. However, back to Bulmer, what would be wrong with putting a kid like that on a line with, say, Cullen and Heatley. Or, with Koivu and Heatley. Let the kid run around hitting people and grinding in the corners to get the puck. Hopefully, that type of work would free up space for the scorers. And, he's got decent hands, when he gets a chance playing with those guys, I bet he buries it more often than not. Just a thought...

Good move overall, I really liked Bulmer for the first 9 games, but I don't want him to turn into Shepphard. Also, I think Wellman would be a better 3rd/4th line option at this point. He has gotten a lot of minutes with the Aeros and proven he can play. Less minutes with the Wild wouldn't hurt Wellman as much - he is older and has a had a few years to develop now with top minutes in the AHL.

I am a little confused. I just looked at the Wild's stats and I dont see how you can send Bulmer down when he has the same number of goals as the teams first line center and captain.

Good move by Fletch. Best thing for his development. Still remember during the lockout year when Butch and Burnsie played in Houston all year, just like Gillies last year. Not too many 19 year olds can stay in the NHL all year like a Kane or Stamkos or the two Edmonton phenoms. Now Bulmer can develop in Juniors, and tell all his buddies down there, what it was like to play in the NHL.

I don't question sending him back to juniors. I question why he was here in the first place. Were the Wild expecting him to play heavy minutes? Probably not. So if they weren't, why was he on the team to begin with? I don't think it's that big of a deal but they're messing with Bulmer's head a little.
