I don't know about anybody else, but it snowed on us on Sat. night of fishing opener.

Top ten warmest opener years in Brainerd from the chart (warmest first): 1955, 1956, 1997, 1954, 1950, 2001, 1951 & 1999, 1948 & 1953. Sounds like the DNR just wants to get in on the GW fun.

upside his head with it and knock some sense into him because a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

As Paul Douglas points out, people confuse weather, which swings wildly, with overall climate trends. There's no doubt that spring ON AVERAGE is arriving earlier. The mere fact that the exact days of fishing openers haven't been been warmer doesn't change this. Global warming may be a silly argument to move the opener forward at this point, but the fact that things are warmer is beyond a doubt. I wonder what the motivation would be for the 98% of climate scientists who conclude that this is the case to make this up. We have a real problem with conspiratorial thinking in this country, whether it's people, largely on the left, who believe Bush and the American gov't "did 9-11". Or, people largely on the right, who believe global warming is made up. Both sides defy all evidence to the contrary, due to beliefe in some dark-room conspiracy.

An actual meaningful study would show avg. ice out date and avg. water temps. Air temp in May?? Morons. And a cheap shot at Obama? Fishery management has been and always will be a state right. For all the talk about upholding the constitution, a good many conservatives don't even know what's in in it.
