Another shutout! Rau WCHA Rookie of the Year. Haula Hobey Baker. Sioux get shutout at home, great way to start a weekend. Was there a Mime Troop at Engelstad tonight? It was real quiet!

Finish the weekend with another Sweep. This team has it all. Great goal tending, physical play, speed, the best special team play, and an array of goal scoring. This is Golden Gopher Hockey.

Can you say MIKE GUENTZEL!!! This team has changed from the last 4 years and there is only one reason why, MIKE GUENTZEL! The UofM has always had more draft picks and talent than any of its opponents. Now they have a coach to help them reach their potential. He coached the team to National Championships and when he left the team was awful, now he is back and the team in once again where it should be based on the talent and resources the program has compared to other institutions. Way to go Maturi, great decision to fire John Hill and bring back the true leader of the program.

Looking like a good year! I can't wait to see the Gophs in the 2nd half once the D corps gets more experience. And not only did UND get shut out at home, our local hockey expert goldenchoker was once again wrong, the St Cloud/UND game was not televised locally. The king of misinformation!

Finally, a competitive, winning team in the Twin Cities. It's been a dark 24 months.

AS I said previously, as Patterson goes the Gophers go. The presence of Guentzel working with the defensemen is a huge assest that was missing last season. Clearing rebounds in front, moving out bodies , good positioning, its happening. Being young they can only get better with seasoning and experince. Go Gophs!!!!

Nice article. One correction, though; Finland is not a Scandinavian country. Nordic, to-be-sure, but not Scandinavian.
