Why no question about Maturi's future? I was at the game. There were way, way more Nebraska fans sitting in season ticket holder seats than in the student section. The reason for that? Free enterprise. Nebraska fans and Wisconsin fans are committed to seeing their teams play and willingly pay whatever they have to. Gopher fans sell their tickets. Plain and simple. The students have been terrific this year, in my humble opinion, and not a one of them is my close personal friend.

Sid loves Maturi, so don't expect anything harsh from Sid. Maturi needs to go,but I doubt that Pres. will fire him. I think he will let him go out with his dignity( although he has no respect ).

The president said he made a decision to hire Joel Maturi's football coach for seven years. Unfortunately, Maturi isn't going anywhere.

"We need to build with student-athletes." Gopher football is going nowhere for a long time if that is the case. The Gophers are not in the Ivy league. It's going to be the same old thing for another generation.

Until Maturi is let go, the program cannot heal and move forward.

You learn a lot from a prexy based upon what he says: "...You know to me, there's one thing that can help predict the future, and that's what somebody has done in the past..." Now, that sounds pretty good, doesn't it? Then, just a few thoughts later: "...We are not interested in the past. It's the future we are concerned with and hope to do something about..." And, another "mixed message..." from prexy k: "...Q: How did you come to the conclusion of a seven-year contract? (Sid) A: I made that decision. (prexy k.) (Just a few questions later.) "...Q: So with sports you'll be interested, but you won't be telling anyone what to do?(Sid) A: That is right. I don't think it's the president's job to tell people what to do in athletics. (prexy k) So, which wlll it be prexy k: hand's off or hand's on? It seems to me that prexy b liked to operate behind the scenes and let his yes man, bjm take the flack. It sounds as though prexy k firmly believes in a hand's off/while at the same time hand's on approach to things.

The pointed comment on no extension for Tubby was telling, sounds like he's gone unless they make the NCAA tournament this year...Tubby will have to actually work this year, and that may not be enough. This team is very weak.

So depressing to find our that President Kaler is as clueless about building a real college football as the rest of the people who have been associated with this University in my lifetime. He's putting blind trust (in the form of a ridiculous 7 year contract) in to a man who has never coached at a BCS school. Then he talks about student-athletes like Minnesoa is Stanford or Northwestern. If you don't want to be big time, just disband the program. It's embarrased most of us for far too long.
