Kill admits right call was made on fumble

Did anybody else think Marquis got a little too excited about scoring after his fumble and his team still down by about 4 td's? I'd say, just as we're probably not as bad as the Purdue score would indicate, we're probably not as good as the final today would indicate. The halftime score is a truer reflection of where the coach took this team with 2 weeks preparation.

While the game did not go our way as expected, we met lots of Nebraska fans during tailgating and at the stadium. They are great fans who love their team. We enjoyed hosting them even though the Gophers could not win. Let's see how they like going to Iowa for a game.

That backward pass call was really the emotional turning point of the entire game. Had it been decided that the Gopher D made the stop, I think the emotional tide turns, and at the very least, the U would have scored in the first half. I am not naive enough to think the final results would have been a Gopher win, but it would have been a HUGE lift for a UMinn program that is trying to improve. I also don't agree with the interpretation. I think the rule wording is talking about a backwards pass that ISN'T TOUCHED; thereby giving the offensive team the ball, but at a loss, as it should be. Once the receiver touches the ball, I believe it becomes a FUMBLE, subject to the rules thereof. Then again, I am not a football referee, so their interpretation is the one that counts.

Beleive me recovering that baclward pass/fumble only meant we lose that game by 7 points less than what we did. Lets not get delusional.

The backward pass call was INCORRECT. NCAA rule 9-4-2: " a backward pass that is batted forward by the passing team shall result in a 15 yard penalty." Should have been Nebraska ball 4th and 16.

Come on, now, are you stunned that Todd Geerling got a rule wrong? He is the worst official in the Big Ten. That, my friends, is saying something.

You are incorrect. The term batted means intentional, whereas a muff is unintentional. This backwards pass was never controlled, so it was a muff. The officials got it right.

Whatever coach, If they would have gave it to the gophers d no one would have been the wiser. Since it went to Nebraska, it only reinforces the fact that the big ten cheats to try and position its team better in the bcs.

It shouldn't matter where the ball goes out of bounds... the ball should be placed back at the LINE OF SCIMMAGE. A team should not be able to gain forward yardage on a fumble. Backwards yardage is fine... not forwards.
