Best Buy needs to find something to prop up falling sales and profits. Would it drain sales from other products? Ask the question whether the masses are ready to shell out for yet another gadget? Some will but others are abandoning laptops and desktops for tablets. In the end, we are saturated with giant flat screens and the tablets will meet the same fate at a much lower price point. Best Buy is in trouble.

Dear Strib: Dumb it down. Please: Quit using business buzzwords in articles aimed at general Sunday readership, ie: "Key metric" and "comp sales growth". You're not Forbes or Business Week.

Tablets will be "hot" until the next big thing comes out in a year or so.

Best Buy is toast. That is why they are sub-leasing that taxpayer subsidized corporate campus! Lets see: shop online and get all the information you need on a product, get it tax free with free shipping and at a lower cost or go to Best Buy??

The HP Touchpad sold out because they marked it down to $99 and it was a steal! If the Kindle Fire was a 10" machine it would sell out and destroy the iPad!

10.1" Android 3.2 tablets don't seem to get any mention in stories like this. Some would say it's because they can't compete with iPad or Kindle. Ridiculous! I've owned the Asus Eee Pad Transformer for over 5 months, and I can't put it down. I've used my laptop very little since. Just give tablets time to catch on. They will be just as powerful as desktops/laptops, and far more convenient. Not to mention the influx of new software, once the developers see that tablets will be around for a while.

Well I run my website www.compareflatscreentvs.co.uk and dont see this as competition. My website allows you to compare flatscreen tvs online and this is different from kindles and ipads. I think it adds to a tv as you can stream from an ipad and use apple tv to display your photos videos and programmes on the flatscreen tv. Not got me worried.
