Rodgers surpassing Favre's legend

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers waited his turn to start behind Brett Favre. Now he's outperforming the future Hall of Famer in most passing categories, while cutting back on the interceptions and the drama.

Feel really lucky to have two consecutive HOF QB's in a row on my favorite team. I never in my wildest dreams thought they could replace Favre, much less improve on him. Nobody will ever match Favre for his durability and toughness, and probably not play at that high of a level for that long. But Rodgers is truly amazing to watch.

Hard to believe the Vikes passed on Rodgers TWICE in the '05 draft. Both picks (Troy Williamson and Erasmus James) were complete busts and both are out of the NFL now.

No offense to anyone but Aaron Rodgers doesn't even belong in the same sentence as Brett Favre yet. He's only been considered an elite QB for a couple of years! Don't get me wrong, he's on his way and there's no reason to think he won't be as good as Favre someday, but come on...you have to be good for a lot of years. It's pretty dumb to even compare them now. Only reason people compare them is because they both played for the Packers. A lot of QB's have been good for a few years but that's it. Let's see him do it for at least 10 years first (which would be half of Favre's career).

The numbers are skewed. Rodgers had the advantage of sitting on the bench 2 more years than Favre did. Brett also played until the age of 41. Let's see how Rodgers holds up to 15 more years of brutal hits.

Jim, really it was a different league back then. Look at the passing stats of today even average QBs would have elite #s back in Favre best years. Favre at least now has to be rated higher than Rodgers, if in 15 years Aaron has continued to put up great numbers then you can make that arguement but right now it just doesn't hold water.

There were ten teams (including us) that needed a QB in 2005 yet passed on Rodgers. The Packers are very fortunate he dropped that late in the 1st round.

I am the most impressed with Brett's three MVP awards and twenty year career. Super Bowls are won with a great team around you. MVP awards are won when you don't have that great of a team around you. Come back in fourteen years and we'll talk.
