After last season it makes no difference what players we have or what hopes there are with the new tall and heavy men team. The Gophers program went south after last years early win over north carolina. It was troubling to see no definable pattern of play ; how out of sorts the players looked while playing together. Too bad Al Nolen is not back. The backcourt looks sketchy with underclassmen. in minnesota we cheer the athleticism too so all is not lost!

I would hate to have James Brooks view of the Gophers. The Gophs will be only as good as their backcourt. We have the bigs that can compete, especially when Ralph gets tuned up. I have an optimistic view of this season. Go Gophs.

What I find discouraging is that the game against Bemidji could have been video of any of Tubby's teams from the time he came to Minnesota: lackluster shooting, lousy free-throw shooting (how many misses in a row in the second half?), and they couldn't stop the Beavers from drilling threes. If this is Tubby's best shooting team with several new players shouldn't there at the very least be some flashes of better things to come? Maybe things will pick up a little.

Excuse me, I have a question. Did anyone see this game on TV last night? I that I saw something written a few days ago that said this game was suppose to be on TV. Now watching this team is the only time of the season when I know this team can win a game or two. On Thursday they start playing better teams which means increasing numbers in the L column. I wish this was not so. Coach Smith did not get all that grey hair because he is a happily married man, no he got that grey hair because he is coaching a so-so BB team...

Why is Sampson a seven foot center routinely posting up 15 feet from the basket? He almost never gets to the free throw line because he is so far outside and seldom shoots. He needs to get inside, get some offensive rebounds and also give some room for Mbakwe to work his power.

Sampson III must not have played?

I am curious to see how hard Ralphie works in the weight rooms (if at all)...he needs to bump up his total lifts and put some frick-- weight on that 7 foot fram...oh, thats right, you have to wanta do that...my bad!!

Its tubby time as joel maturi said. This was a home run hire. Yet president kahler wrote me saying how it was great keeping joel around another year. Remember tubby was a home run hire!

Chubbys gonna leave this program in a mess. Speaking of leave I sure hope he either gets fired which he should or just leaves.

I will give Tubby a break. With Trev and Royce, this team would have easily made it to the big dance.
