Players ignored injuries in the playoffs, far different from the local nine's behavior.

That's a great take, Patrick!

As evidenced by his shoddy fielding (1 error) and feeble hitting (3 Ks and counting) in Saturday's elimination game vs. Texas, Delmon Young will eventually revert to form--by this time next season, Tigers fans will likely be willing to trade Delmon for a box of popcorn. The biggest difference in Delmon between the Twins and Tigers is in the managers--Leyland won't put up with wusses on his bench; Gardenhire evidently will.

The hatred of DY continues. Hopefully, no matter where he lands next season he can be a 30 HR guy for about 10 years.

william16. You are missing the point of the article. Delmon is playing hurt for Detroit because that is what is expected.

It helps Delmon that there are actually good hitters hitting around him. There is no one in the Twins lineup that puts fear into a pitcher. Anyone in Detroit's lineup can hit a homerun or hit a screamer. The Twins way is to bunt and play for one run. Look at Detroit and Texas they have power pitchers and power hitters. Twins have pitch to contact (or batting practice) pitchers and punch and judy hitters. The Twins need a change in philosophy.

Patrick, Great article, but when will someone out Mauer for the cancer he is?

Verlander threw 133 pitches? That must be a misprint or something. Gardy and Rick Anderson have told us that if you go beyond 100 pitches you'll get injured. How dare Verlander for disproving their theory like that.

Come October, it baffles me how every single American League team that has made the playoffs in the past 11 years has beat the Yankees except the Oakland A's and the Twins. The only playoff series the A's have won in that span? Against the Twins. Who cares if we win 100 games a season when we haven't won a playoff game since 2004? It was almost relief not having to watch this soft team get swept in the playoffs again this year. Maybe a 3-4 year bout of mediocrity will let us clean house and and rebuild our farm system with players (and coaches) who know who to win in October. It seems evident our current roster is incapable of doing so.

Unlike the Twins, there is accountability up and down the Texas and Detroit organization. In the Tampa club house, Joe Maddon has a sign posted that says (“Attitude is a decision.” The Twins have a lot to learn.

Right on Patrick! At least we went into the Viking season with hope. There is no hope for the Twins next year. Sad, sooo sad. It's hard to give a crap about our Twins; MY TWINS. Such a woooosie bunch--who wants to care about these guys? It starts with Gardy. Get someone hard-nosed in there; make these guys play or get-em out.
