Does anyone know why Iverson and Joseph left? Made no sense.

The good news: the team should be as good this year as last. The bad news: last year's team wasn't that great. Hoping for the best. Somehow sneaking into the big dance every year and losing the first game doesn't really get me fired up. Typical U of M sports...disappointing year after year. Hopefully one of these days I a team can really surprise me in a positive way

Pick your excuse: 1) We're young 2) We're shorthanded because (fill in the blank) left the team 3) We need a practice gym

@anderson5 To some extent, both were dissatisfied with playing time. Iverson played behind Sampson and struggled to get 20 mins/game. Since leaving school he has suggested that he is still pursuing a goal of playing professionally. I think he ended up at Colorado State. Joseph was suspended early last year, and was a 6th man when he returned to the lineup. Some have suggested that he wasn't doing well academically and preempted an academic suspension by leaving before the start of spring semester. It's hard to say what the real issues were, since so little was said about it publicly.

If the University gives Tubby a $10M, five-year extension on his contract, they are resigning Gopher athletics to continued mediocrity. If these guys manage to even be competitive in the weak Big Ten division they've been assigned to, that would be an over achievement.

gotta love comment land, you get some real idiots out here that pretend they "know" the game and how to turn the program around. kind of funny how all they can do is bash but yet where are these great ideas? didnt think so. now go back down to the basement until your mommies call you up for dinner.

At the college level, one player can make a huge difference in how good a team is. That's why there are so many more good teams in basketball than in football. Not having a point guard seriously hurt last years team. Rule #1, you gotta go to the dance. Rule #2, only one team goes home a winner.

You can't just change coaches every few years expecting a big impact in the win/loss column. Have you just followed Gopher sports? Tubby is the right man for the job...and is our best bet to win. He has brought in good players...and they will get better. Tubby is not our problem.
