Kill is doing exactly what needs to be done to turn this program around. If it were easy it would have already been done. Getting the freshman some hard knock experience, figuring out what soph players he can save and what few juniors are willing to make the changes necessary on and off the field. Next step and most important is recruiting like crazy. I believe Kill will get some players in that will make a difference. He has a track record of selling the plan of up and coming program and executing it. Yes, this season is lost, big deal, but the future could be bright, so stop hating and believe. Can't be any worse than last 10 years.

I'm sick of hearing this crap about rebuilding each week. And I'm supposed to be confident because he rebuilt... NORTHERN ILLINOIS? Who cares? This guy is a bust. Nothing more than the flavor of the month. I called Horton and asked him if he wanted the job and he just laughed.

The program was competitive under Mason including one of the best running games in the nation, so I have to disagree with newgopherfan's last sentence. Otherwise I have to agree with him/her. This is a very long term project and requires some industrial strength patience to get it done. We are lucky to have someone as stubborn and capable as Mr. Kill to get the job done.

Jerry Kill is a 2nd rate coach that is way over his head! The Gophers suck and nothing has changed with this so called coach. Go back to your 2nd rate school and lets get a big time coach who knows how to win at this level.

Had the U named a president a year ago, and an AD had been hired to address replace Brewster with a coach with more immediate name recognition, maybe the 32 freshmen that you see playing would have been worth paying to see play. In a few weeks, their are going to be some good coaches out there who will have their agents seeing what's available, but at my alma mater, there"ll be no one there to answer the phone. I am convinced nothing will change with Gopher Football, not unless there is some change in the decision making hierarchy to give fans some hope in the next 30 days.

Mason's last three years showed a complete lack of interest in leadership and recruiting effort by the head coach. He also had trouble keeping assistant coaches and coordinators near the end. Final three year finishes in the Big Ten were 8th, 7th and 6th. That's competitive? He put forth lots of effort in collecting his check however and accepting his buyout. As citizens and taxpayers of Minnesota, were still paying for this!

Drama much, hoyt? When Jerry's 2011 crapout is complete, the goofers will be 8-32 in the Big 10 during the 1/2 decade "fire Mason experiment." That's competitive?????????????

I know a program to the east of us that hired a new coach in 1990 after not having a winning season since 1984. That first year, the coach went 1-10 and didn't win a single conference game. The next two years were also losing season as well. Then in 1993, his team went 10-1-1, went to the Rose Bowl, and won. He was able to take them 5 years later, he did the same thing where they then won back to back Rose Bowls. I am sure people realize I am talking about Barry Alvarez of the Wisconsin Badgers. Imagine if Wisconsin had let him go after that first season or even after the first 3 seasons of having losing records. Give Kill a chance, if in a couple of years our players are still undisciplined, and getting blown out in Big Ten play, then fire him. But, give him more than 6 games to prove himself.

When is the 90 day period met after which Kaler has indicated he'll have had enough time to have evaluated Maturi? And if he doesn't fire or non-renew Maturi, nothing else will matter!
