GOPHER FANS, Have some guts and demand that Maturi is dismissed!

I thought Gray did some good things too. 8 for 20 with an interception return for a touchdown. He's definitely improving. His number's should be much better against Nebraska.

We played like we were outmatched in just about every area. I think it is time that the Gophers and Alumni realize that we are no longer a Big Ten team. We need to move into a lesser division where we can compete.

The Gophers now need to play the cards as dealt. With a new stadium to fill there is no choice but to go forward and try to build a winning program. The unfortunate personnel decisions of the past few years can't be reversed, and firing Maturi won't help the Gophers win. It's time to dig in and slog forward. It would be helpful if the fans were understanding of this effort, even though they are miserable with the current situation.

Sure, Jerry, and if Gray improves A LOT, he may at some point approach mediocrity. Of course by then, he will be out of college. Gray is often said to be the best athlete on the team. Maybe so, maybe not – but he is nowhere near a quality college quarterback. Not even close.

The only way to move this program forward is to remove Maturi and Kill. Hire a coach that is a well known winner and pay him the going rate of a Sabam. 4 million would attract a winner who will in turn attract higher profile kids to the program. That is what Holtz brought to the party back in 85. Don't tell me that the money won't bring a "name" coach. A winner would move for the money and the opportunity to turn this program. I tired of all the nay sayers saying we can't attract a big name coach. Pay the money or resign yourself to being a doormat. Kill isn't going to attract the kids we need. Who is going to come here with a coach with a medical condition that can put him in the hospital at any given moment.

I had a good chuckle this morning as I watched the end of this game and wondered if there was anyone else in the U.S. still watching. I will always root for Maroon & Gold no matter who is playing or who is coaching but I wouldn't mind if we could fast-forward a couple years when these kids are older, stronger and more confident. I think Kill is a good coach but you have to wonder has changed since the second half against USC? In my mind, it was the on-field seizure in front of a very young team as they were gathering themselves to avoid the New Mexico State upset. Only the players and staff know what the dynamic may be within the team but I know those on-camera "coaching moments" that we saw several times today, and the "Minnesota Lopher" shirts we read about, may work on arrogant players who are making mistakes but will backfire on young guys who are simply trying their best.

The only people who think that remarks made against the present Gopher leadership, AD and football cocah are inappropriate are the ones who can't handle the reality of situation. Tell me how your going to put fans in the home stadium and when we are vistors. That is how we are going to fund the athletic programs at the U. This program and the others at the U are in serious trouble. Time to wake up and take some drastic actions.
