Good for you Mark. I hope you put a couple of roosters in the bag.

Wow, pheasant numbers down 64%. Might want to have the boys just spend the day shooting up some tame pellet-ready pen-raised birds that sometimes have to be kicked to "fly" enough to be shot.

Finally, a Gov (or his staff) who gets it. By promoting pheasant hunting (and hunting in general) in Minnesota he is supporting what many of us had been advocating for years by advocating for extending the MN pheasant seasons to the end of Dec (and limits), like all our bordering states have been doing for years. The biology supported these changes and helps support hunting and tourism here. While hunting is still a little mentioned subject by our MN department of Tourism (check out their web site at:http://www.exploreminnesota.com/things-to-do/index.aspx?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=things-to-do&gclid=CLvHxNPx26sCFc_AKgodDGQMSA) , at least they now have some links to MN hunting opportunities. For years, they never mentioned or promoted hunting in this state, which was shameful for a state that has a constitutional amendment that cherishes our hunting heritage. Again, good to see a Gov that is proud and supportive of hunting.

Always figured Dayton would spend most of his time pheasant hunting in South Dakota and taking cash withdrawals from his trust fund accounts without an ATM fee.

Truly a refreshing change in politics. kudos to governor Dayton. The great thing about the whole thing. You know from how he speaks. that he really has hunted. He knows the joys of the tradition of what takes place on a hunt, the right of passage of our fall. a big breakfast in a camp or farm house in rural Minnesota. Sharing the great times and day with family and friends in camp, out in the blind or well walking the fields, tree lines and corn fields. Thank God we have a Governor like this. Now lets hang on to him. Thank You Mark Dayton

Mr. Dayton can try to get my vote with a governor pheasant opener. But it does not change the fact that he is a liberal after my money.
