i live up in northern MN. between periods of the Wild game, i flipped over to 'hockey night in canada' and a commentator who has ins with a few GM's said he's just about sure a change in the rule is gonna happen. //// i'll nit-pick a little here. nystrom's feeling about what happened can't be a positive one, but characterizing it as guilt doesn't seem appropriate.

Agree 100%. There's simply to much invested by teams, owners, and most importantly players themselves to continue "as is" on this rule. Icing is usually a result of either a team that can't get possession out of their zone or makes an inept play that leads to icing. No-touch calls it as it is and makes that team pay by having faceoff in their end. Granted, no line change rule has helped, but no-touch still makes sense in my opinion. Only negative I can think of is it may impact the number of long outlet passes that could send somebody on a breakaway (which are exciting) because if it misses it's auto icing. However, that team can win the faceoff, get control, and try again. I'd rather see that than somebody lying in a pile, possibly ending a career. HEY OWNERS/GMS: shuffle Divisions until the time zone wrinkles come out and Wild is in w/ the Hawks and change this icing rule and we'll move on for 10 yrs or more, hands off.
