Our stand on Palestinian statehood could further alienate the U.S. in the Middle East, he said.

How does a trip to the Middle East in support of a Palestine state help MN? I hope he did not go over on taxpayer money; this is surely a boondoggle on his part. Ellison should be concentrating on improving the US economy to help create jobs for the MN unemployed instead of taking religious based trips.

Why do they have this unfounded fear? The US will back a people who want to decide their own destiny, who want to have a democracy that selects their own leaders as they see fit and is represented by them selves on the world stage -- ask Israel...... OK, so Israel is not a democracy, it's a theocracy... Ask Nicaragua -- ok, bad choice... Grenada?... Let's jump back before Reagan or Bush on that... Anyway, it's a vote about Israel because the people in question are Israelis, not Palestinians - treated fairly by Israel, Israel wants to keep them as part of Israel to... to.. hmm.. why do they? To be a drain on Israel, to be a constant threat to a day of peace, to annoy every Arab within 1000 miles -- hey, they must have some good reason... cheap labor?

Ha telling us that leaders of countries that already cheer "death to america" and want our collective heads on posts, especially progressives, might deteriorate ... doesn't really worry me

"How does a trip to the Middle East in support of a Palestine state help MN?" --> It helps us to understand a complex problem that affects all American, including Minnesotans. Take one glance at the figures for how much tax $$$ goes to Israel/Egypt/Afghanistan/war... Palestine/Israel is key to our "war on terror".

I wonder if Ellison has considered that US Citizens want this Vetoed? Statehood for a terrorist group (there is no such thing as a Palestinian) is not a concept that I endorse. Maybe Keith should move to his homeland and try not paying violations over there for a while. He may find a new respect for the great nation we call home.

Ellison laughingly earns his keep representing the 5th District of Minnesota, USA. He can do his Middle East lobbying as a 'dignitary', when he retires and is on his own time.

I'm sure that Congressman Ellison actually had to work on this trip - this trip was made by both republican and democrat reps.

jstanthrnbr Please tell me that you're kidding. Those of us who enjoy life with our heads OUT of the sand can clearly recognize the fact that "Israel" (there is really no such thing as Israel) is the largest terrorist state on earth. Terrorize, bully, and land-grab all you want "Israel", you know the only path to peace is fairness.

What a disgrace you are Mr. Ellison and what a shame you are too. This whole thing is a farce, this bid is to secure by fiat what they have utterly failed to earn thru diplomacy. Why don't you get back to us when the TERRORIST run Palestinians, the "dogs" of the arab world who are so loathed that they actually had MORE rights in Israel and freedoms than in ANY Arab country and could in fact own property in Israel, admit and agree that Israel has a right to exist and that Hamas must not be allowed to run the "state". yeah the silence is deafening. sheesh what a freaking joke this state is , we just had to be the first to elect , oh well you get the picture.
