There is simply no excuse for a 58-0 pasting by a D-1 foe let alone any foe. Clearly, the so called "great recruiter", Brewster, left the cupboard bare! On the other hand and to paraphrase a recent quote from former coach, Glen Mason, the Gopher defense has been able to stop everything except the run and the pass for the past 20+ years., i.e. Mason, "We just couldn't stop anybody."...and, of course, they still cannot do that.

Stop blaming Brewster (yes he was terrible) but Coach Kill has to take most of the blame here. He can't motivate anyone to do anything. Period.

Sad, but true - U of M football is a coaching grave yard - where many football coaches have gone to prematurely end their coaching careers. Only Dr. Lou survived because he was smart enough to get out before it was too late. You can't get out-coached by NDSU and expect to win in the Big Ten. The revolving door will continue to spin...

The one thing the Prez could do now is announce Maturi's contract will NOT be renewed. It won't do anything for the on field performance but it will give the State hope that someone competent to run athletics may be on the horizon. Since Joel won't quit and apparently Kaler doesn't have the rocks to send him packing, he could at least hide him from the public until his contract runs out.

I think it would help to fire Joel Maturi now. We all need a signal that this has gone low enough and we have to get this ship up off the bottom. Every person deserves some hope that things will get better. Having Joel floating face down is a bad sign no matter how you try to ignore the smell.

notsid, how did we beat Penn State at Penn State twice if we could never stop anyone in any way? How about the game I sat through at Ohio State? How did we win that game without stopping then (#6 in the nation?)? How about the win at Michigan? Or against Alabama, Arkansas or Oregon? If we have not been able to stop anyone for twenty years and we always lost the big games, how did we win those games and many others? It is funny how you only remember the losses whereas a real fan like me has no trouble remembering all the games.
