The Gophers haven't made up their minds about QBs MarQueis Gray and Max Shortell.

The only work in progress is Shortell. Gray has already proven that he's a wide receiver and he'll be moving on with his life soon and it won't be as a QB.

There's another issue besides Q-Back. A defense which can't seem to get off of the field on third down situations. I don't know what the stats were for NDSU on third down conversions but I'm guessing they weren't bad. How many times did NDSU punt in that game?

Kill's first year is to establish his program and game. It would have been better to just start with Shortell take the losses and let Gray develop into a top receiver-wide cat. Shortell is the future, not Gray, a deep threat is a need for any team, he just needs reps.

Gray is not a Big Ten QB and never will be just as Brewster realized resulting in his playing Weber. Contrary to all of the folks who just knew that Gray was a better QB than Weber and as they should now fully realize, Gray is a wide receiver who could help the Gophers with a good QB like Shortrell throwing to him. Gray cannot get it done at QB and never could as Brewster well knew. On the other hand, the Gopher defense continues to not be able to stop anyone let alone anyone on third and long...just as they never could under Brewster or Mason. Gonna be painful in the Big House on Saturday...probably a 6-7 touchdown loss if not more. They are simply an awful team!

Also, as Mason said on the Big 10 network, the QB coach lobbies for Shortell to get more playing time. Gray seem to be one of Kill's favorits, like Gardy does with the Twins.

Shortell should be the QB, those picks would not have happened if they would stop switching

Let's hope Grey is a better daddy than he is a QB!

Just give Shortell more of an opportunity. He hasn't had nearly the opportunity of Gray. I agree that Gray seems to be a favorite of Kill. I don't understand this, Kill said you earn your playing time. I think Kill has used the first 4 games to get Gray experience and try to build his confidence knowing that he may need more than one QB this season (injury possibility). However, I say give Shortell the opportunity and it may help Gray by taking some pressure off. If Gray's a competitor he'll it'll drive him to be better. It will let him go out there and just let it go instead of trying so hard and worrying too much. Saying this is an awful team is like a scorn lover saying their ex is ugly. Check your emotions, this is NOT an awful team. There's a lot of season left, settle down and let it play out.

"....a favorite of Kill...."?? What does that mean? Can a true freshman be a top BT in his first season? No, he will probably get killed in his first season with a bad team that can not fully protect him. Can he even learn the playbook by the first, second or fifth game? Does Gray have an immediate upside that Shortell does not have? Yes, he is a good (not great) gunner. I agree that we should give Shortell as many snaps as the coaches thing he can effectively handle at this current moment. I do not think that number is obvious to us fans and I do not think it has anything to do with coach "favorites". Use your head typical fan. Who is going to practice all week as the second string quarterback? Gray? How about at WR? Gray? We have to have a backup ready for when Shortell gets injured. And, as a true freshman starter on our team he will get injured.
