I agree with gvvoice. This guy's column seems like he's trying to get enough essays together to approach Milkweed about doing a collection. And he tends to focus on his own (faux humble) philanthropy. Strib, you really really can't find someone more relevant?

Not at all what I was thinking when I read the word investment? I clicked here thinking I would get some good investment advice and it's something about charity and nature.

One guide I read talked about spending money on experiences, not things. Things depreciate, break etc. Memories of experience stay with you until Alzheimer's sets in if you are fortunate enough to live that long.
