  • Article by: MICHAEL RAND , Star Tribune

David Kahn and Rick Adelman have a history from more than two decades ago when Adelman coached the Trail Blazers and Kahn was a columnist for the Oregonian.

Kahn is a genius. Ok, so he might be a little goofy and not your normal NBA general manager, give him credit. He has made the Wolves interesting again. That Yahoo article offer obviously has something against the man is jealous of

Kahn -- How does a former beat writer for the Portland Trailblazers make it to GM of an NBA team? He is neither an athlete or businessman. The problem with the NBA is that no one ever receives a bad reference. It is all about who you know and the network. They could have picked a number of people outside the NBA network to run this thing better than Kahn. It is good to see Adelman speak the truth about this clown. Attitude and any organization is t "top down". I give Kahn one more year.

Adelman's distaste for Kahn probably has less to do with what he actually wrote for the paper and more to do with Kahn's obnoxious, egotistical personality and the fact that somehow that personality and his lack of experience got him an NBA GM job...

My hope is that if Adelman hates Kahn as much as the Yahoo report, Taylor has already picked who will win in terms of future disagreements about personnel or anything else. He gave Adelman 20 million over 4 years I believe, Kahn makes 1 million and this is his last year. I would hope Adelman has some reassurances from Taylor about not letting the clown screw up the team anymore than he already has and that he is on the way out.

Kahn is the man! He is willing to make the tough decisions and put his name on them. Some decisions work, some don't. I absolutely love what he has done so far. He is building something entertaining, successful (just wait and see), and most importantly sustainable. He hasn't taken the short cut on with a quick fix in free agency, he has put together a group of solid young players while maintaining roster flexibility. Good job Kahn man!

This quote sums it up for me. "Those who consistently rip the Kahn regime with the Timberwolves -- plenty of current sportswriters are among them -- might find some ironic glee when reading that." And that is the crux of the problem. So many sportswriters have made their dislike of Kahn personal. Regardless of whether their opinion is reasonable or not, they have lost their objectivity, and their credibility along with it. Kahn is not the joke anymore. The guys who write about him are.

Sid Hartman claims to have been at one time general manager of the old Minneapolis Lakers. No one besides Hartman himself confirms this. Is David Kahn really worse than Sid Hartman?

Yahoo articles are known for inaccurate information. Such as the scism with the Vikes. I'm glad Startrib posted this article. Once again, Yahoo has proven why I do not need to read their fictional sports article section.

Thanks for posting actual quotes from credible sources, Rand. Might want to pass that handy journalistic tip on to your colleague Souhan. Adrian Woj is garbage.
