Desire to win burns in Wild captain Koivu

The Wild has not been to the playoffs since the 2007-08 season. That does not sit well with the team captain.

BRAD RICHARDS WOULD OF BEEN THE ICING ON THE CAKE. ALL THE WILD DID WAS SWAP 2 FOR 2. ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE MORE OFFENSE, THE OUTCOME WILL BE THE SAME. OTHER TEAMS WILL IMPROVE ALSO,LEAVING THE WILD RIGHT WHERE THEY WERE LAST YEAR, NEAR THE BOTTOM.

hckyjunk: I remember the days when all we got was Chris Simon, so Heatley and Gucci look pretty good to me. Add to that a healthy PMB and Lats and I'd say all your negativity is misplaced. Should be a much improved team.

The pieces are there, now let's see it happen. It's obvious that Mike Yeo has more respect from the players and organization than big Todd ever did, and Fletcher's putting a good team on the ice with tons of youngings on the way. Go wild!

If Kiovu doesnt click with that first line then what do the Wild do? If he shows himself to be a number 2 center do the Wild drop the other 2 down or do they move Kiovu down and pay a #2 center 7 mil?

Its a bit of a conundrum. Kiovu didnt play well with Gaborik, Rolston or Dimitra. This is premature but given his history of playing well only with his buddies, I sure hope Cullen is playing well enough to challenge him for the spot if no chemistry developes with Heater and Seto.

I think he will develop chemistry with at least one guy, whether it be Heater or Seto, and things will be fine. Gabby and Dimitra are very different players from Seto and Heater.

218 this is a "premium" article that they want you to pay to read on Sunday OR wait until Wednesday and they will put it online.....I know. Koivu needs to be a lot more consistant this year than he has been in the past. Last year I would of bet my life he had a new girlfriend, he seemed to of lost his legs the entire first half of the season and was barely an average player. He is being paid as a superstar now and needs to play like one, every single night! This is going to be a fun year, GO WILD!
