Great. I know people will trash me for saying this. I hope Kill gets better but this is going to be a distraction for the program. There is always going to be this question while recruiting. And any time there's a tense moment in the game, people will be watching Coach Kill. And anyone watching this crappy team is going to go through extreme stress. He may not be the man.

@kmayer98 It is an interesting point. Except that these things are rare and you sound like you're overreacting. Good chance this never happens again, based on how these things tend to go. My guess is that this will be an afterthought at the end of the year. The question will only be "does the team show signs that they are improving?" Despite yesterday's loss, I think the answer is yes. They are doing some things a lot better. Just need to put it all together.

Glad to hear Coach Kill is ok. Not thrilled that they lost to New Mexico State, but I think any reasonable Gopher fan knows that it is going to take a bit of time for this program to return to mediocraty that we had with Mason as head coach and even more time after that to rise to the top 2 or 3 of the conference. I like what he's done so far, no empty promises and some good in-state recruits signed already. Glad to have you in Minnesota Coach Kill and will be cheerin on the Gophers from Duluth on Saturday!

Wow. Really? You are bashing Coach Kill for having a seizure? Worried about it being a "distraction to the program"? He had two while our coach at SIU and believe me, there were no distractions, other than fans praying that he was ok and he never missed a game. Please remember the program status when he came in because this man will work his tail off to make Minnesota the best it can be. And when he does I hope you remember what you posted. You haven't even given him a chance.

I hope that there is some way to express to Coach Kill that he has nothing to be embarrassed about. He is a great coach and just what Minnesota needs to get his program off square one. Get back in there as soon as you can Jerry, and we will be looking forward to the rest of the season.

Coach Jerry Kill has NOTHING to be embarrassed about. I, along with the rest of my family, hope he gets well soon and ready to coach the Gophers. I believe in what he is doing, and I'm hoping he will be around for a VERY long time. See Joe Paterno for longevity.

kmayer98. Just what do YOU know about coaching a college football program not only in the Big Ten, but in the FSB? How do you KNOW that his seizure will be a distraction and hurt recruiting?

Coach Kill, I disagree with you. The seizure is NOT an embarrassment. Any person that thinks so is a cretin, and a foul one at that! As a matter of fact, though I have no one in my family or relations that suffer from seizures I think it would be highly educational for the citizens and fans of Minnesota to see what your seizure was actually like, and for you to explain that it is not something to be afraid of. This is a teaching moment and I hope you will consider doing that. I also hope you have a speedy recovery. I like what you are doing with the team. Go Gophers!

...well in kmayer98's defense right now all the new articles about the Gophers are about the seizure and not about the actual team. Also, Coach Kill is right now in the hospital and not working with the team preparing for next Saturday's game, so yeah, I'd say that's a distraction. It's not insurmountable, and the fact that Kill has sucessfully dealt with this for years is encouraging, but it certainly isn't a POSITIVE thing.

Worry about the man's health...not about the meaningless won/loss record of a team going nowhere this year anyway. The only embarrassing aspect of this situation is that it's front page news in the paper!
