Very relieved to know he is improving and has always made a full recovery before. Was bothered all night after watching the video. Very scary, although there has been worse replays from plays on the field. I just hope the U has a plan B.

It should be constantly reiterated that, as other coaches and doctors have said, a seizure looks worse than it is in terms of what it means about a person's overall present and future health. I will qualify that by saying that you can really hurt yourself if you hit your head when you black out as the seizure starts or if, for example, you were driving a car. I'm guessing Kill is not allowed to drive by law (that is how the law is written). But the actual seizure is something like a temporary, acute cramp in that it can cause an initial problem in the actual loss of control but otherwise (1) it does not necessarily indicate a larger, more serious problem and (2) the sufferer can go back to normal with no sign of any negative effects. It is true that you want to avoid seizures both because of the possibility of injury and also because evidence shows that each seizure you have increases the chances of another one. You want to avoid seizures, basically, because the seizure can cause certain immediate problems. But assuming this is a relatively "normal" grand mal seizure, this is nothing like a stroke in that he should lose no loss of function nor should we expect him to have future health problems because of this.

God Bless Coach Kill and his family. In the grand scheme of things, the Maroon and Gold needs Coach healthy, but his family needs him healthy more! He has some very good, and loyal assistants who can handle the team right now while coach get's back on his feet. Let's all keep the well wishes for him, and and his family coming and hope for the best for him. The team will be ok. But everyone will be better when Kill is back on his feet!

I'm sure coach Kill is chomping at the bit to be released and go back to work. In people with a history of seizures (about 1% of the population), a single episode like this is usually not serious, as long as you are not driving or swimming. Amazingly, there are dogs trained to warn you that you are about to have a seizure, so that you can lay down first. Its not understood how they know, but dogs seem to have an extra sense about these things.

I am very confident that Coach Kill is going to build an excellent program at Minnesota. He and his crew will help build strong, smart football players, and future leaders. There will be many wins, and BCS bowl appearances. This disorder, may keep some of the "elite" programs away (ala Lou Holtz). Enjoy Coach Kill as we did at Southern Illinois. Many Saluki fans will be cheering for the Gophers on Saturday.

The demonic powers that have haunted Gopher football for 40 years tried to preemptively take him out before he gained too much strength. It is possible (yet not likely) that a seizure can kill a person. It CAN be an indicator of a very serious medical condition that needs to be treated, ie brain tumor. With Coach Kill, it seems he knows the why, but I imagine he will be put through all the tests to be certain he has no new reason for a seizure. I wish him a quick and full recovery.
