2011 Vikings plunge into the unknown

The Vikings thought they had the answers last year but didn't. Now they don't know if they do.

And that's why they play the game.

We knew before last year that our offensive line was horrible (at least all the other teams knew this). We have gotten rid of the worst offender, but did not bring in an experienced player. We will see what the back ups can do. If our offensive line is on; AP has a great year running and our QB gets a lot of time to pass.

Pfft! Yes we are only "one year removed from an NFC championship game", when we had All-Pro calibre seasons from Favre, Allen, Peterson, Hutch and Winfield. Even the Mckinnie made the Pro Bowl (and was promptly sent home for partying of course). So we are stuck in limbo. A touch too good to content for the #1 pick. Much too crummy to sniff a championship, though could possibly limp into the playoffs to get pummeled by a decent team. The Colts are going to win the "suck for Luck" sweepstakes without Manning now folks. First game SD 38-Vikings 17.

And the Packers looked great tonight. No hangover. Does not bode well for the Vikes. I tried to imagine the Vikes defence in there tonight against the Pack offence, its hard to think they would have done a whole lot better then the Saints D who couldn't stop Rogers. Of course, like Tabarnoosh already said, they do have to play the game. Go Vikes!

A lot of personnel changes in staff & players but everyone of them is for the better. Last year was a circus all about #4 (I refuse to use his name). This year its all about 53(players)and I feel these guys are going to surprise a lot of people.

vikeforlife, I respectfully disagree about last year being all about #4. Last year was all about Brad Childress and his ego and how he ruined a fairly good team. this year's team is a good mixture of veterans and youngsters and while hopes shouldn't be to awfully high for them making the playoffs, I don't think it's going to be too long before the Vikings are back in the mix. The problem for the future however, is very simple ... the NFC North is rapidly becoming the toughest division in the NFL.

For Odin's Sake, just because teams put points on the board, it doesn't mean those 2 teams will light up everybody else they play. Maybe both teams defenses aren't all they're cracked up to be. How many times do teams start with a bang and then fall flat? Time will tell. I'm glad Robison will get the opp to show he can be an all-down DE. When Big K returns and if B-Rob's game is on, our D line should provide that pressure on the QB that was missing last season.

The biggest "unknown" for all us purple homers is whether the vikings are going to finish 5-11 or 4-12!!! We already know it will be yet another (51 seasons and counting) year that our Super Bowl / World Championship trophy case will remain empty!!!

They have core talent, dynamic quarterbacks, a rookie future all-pro TE, some new players with potential, if the offensive line plays well, they will have a winning record. They should be fun to watch either way.

Go Vikings I'm looking forward to a good year from management, coaches, players, and a new stadium (the new and improved inflameable toilet)!
