A day after releasing three of the linebackers who played for them in Thursday's preseason finale against Houston, the Vikings claimed Xavier Adibi, one of the players who started at inside linebacker for Houston in that game.

Adibi is just coming into his own. It took EJ Henderson 4 years to get to a high level of play. Inside Linebackers have a large learning curve, and very few are great until at least the 3rd season. Most times it takes 4 years. Example, Chad Greenway.

Adibi provides depth at linebacker but I'm not getting any positive info back on him being a good middle linebacker. The Vikings still need someone to back up EJ Henderson unless Greenway or EJ's brother Erin can back him up. I also would like to see the Vikings get Reisner to the practice squad now as the tight end position is a little thin.

Now I have to go back and watch that last preseason game again... hopefully Adibi can really shine in practice these next few days, cause every guy in that area of the field needs to be on point. No offense to the guys in the secondary...

They saw something. Middle linebacker isn't a question of how many tackles, or getting to the play, but when your get there and what you do at impact. Size is less important than the ability to read, react, and get there quickly. Almost always will have back up help there quickly once contact is made. Good luck... hope he isn't often needed, and develops skill in our system quickly.

Looking over the division and watching their various moves it looks like the team to watch this year are the Lions. This year or next year they will be the finger in the eye of the schedule. This is not simply bcause they made the most progress,it's the result of division owners and managers smoking dope.

I love it when people think a player's signing is no good just because they've never heard of the guy. It's our backup linebacker, what were you expecting shanenord?

Here's the 2011 practice squad - WR Emmanuel Arceneaux, FB Matt Asiata, and FB Ryan D'Imperio, TE Allen Reisner, CB Cord Parks, LB Ross Homan, WR Stephen Burton, and OT Thomas Welch.
