Joe Mauer sat because of an upper respiratory infection, but it didn't matter to the Twins, who dominated on their way to their first two-game winning streak in more than a month.

Play Hughes and Plouffe and Revere every inning the rest of the way and see if they can carry the team. They are the future of the team?

Upper respiratory infection? Sorry Joe, at your salary, I think you need to play with the flu. Seems like the guy will sit with any ailment.

BALLFOUR: I presume the question mark is inadvertent. Sorry, Hughes isn't part of the future of this team. He's no kid (neither is Plouffe, for that matter), and he has not shown that he can produce in the clutch. That's important to remember on these September "auditions." Guys are playing on non-playoff teams against a lot of AAA and AA callups. So: no pressure, lots of minor league pitchers and hitters.

No Joe (as always)must want a "bonus" for games played! Have not heard from "boy wonder" General Manager Billy Smith. Twins fans "wonder" about Smith a ton we "wonder" what was he thinking trading Hardy in order to get the worst shortstop in Twins history. Plau the kids the rest of the way ...rest Joe the rest of the season and dump Billy Smith as soon as possible,

Why don't they shut down Morneau for the rest of the year.....why take a chance on him or his health. It was like a warning signal. If he plays again and has something happen, it could put him back into major problems, which could affect his off season conditioning, next year, and the rest of his career. Shut him down and let him get healthy this winter. Mauer isn't healthy either. Shut him down too. At this point in the season it is pointless to keep pushing them. Let them heal this winter and get their strength back.

Poor Baby, Mauer. Perhaps you should retire so you can get well. Please.

Twins have a better record without Mauer. $184 million down the drain.

Hey Joe (Mauer), look up the greatest game ever pitched. It was Harvey Haddix vs the Milwaukee Braves. He pitched a 12 inning perfect game only to lose it in the 13th inning on an unearned run. Why is this appropriate? He had the flu,a terrible cold, they almost didn't start him. But you see Joe, that was when men played this game. Not pansy prima donnas.

I have had a cold for the whole last week, I wish I could have sat a day out. Baby Joe has NO work ethic at all.

There should be season-ticket insurance.
