Practice punches don't burn friendship

Defensive end D.L. Wilhite and tackle Ed Olson mix it up pretty well in practice, but realize the intense competition only makes them better.

Its unbelievable that parking at the state Fair dictates this teams schedule, but with Joe Maturi as A.D. anything is possible.

Hopefully they'll be good enough in a few years to still include one good team in their pre-season schedule.

so reading into that last statement, I guess it will be the return of the cream puff non-conf for the gophers. I was actually enjoying seeing their competition level increase a bit prior to the Big 10 season.

Who exactly is a "cream puff" for the Gophers?

I would still like to see 1 BCS level opponent scheduled each year(even after the switch to 9 Big Ten games). However, that opponent should be targeted for later in the year. Week 1, you should aim to have the creamiest of cream puffs scheduled to work the kinks out (AKA preseason game)

While others write about non-conf schedules, I was encouraged by the friendship yet intense practice competition between E. Olson and Wilhite. Reminds me of Gary Bertier and Julius Campbell in "Remember the Titans", although they were both defense. Let's hope we're all friends on these boards about 5:30pm, Saturday. GoGophers!
