Sid, I cannot believe that you would support a enclosed stadium for the Vikings after having to stomach the Metrodome for the last 30 years around here. hasn't TCF stadium or Target field opened your eyes. we pretty much spend the entire winter indoors around here and now you want to stick us right back indoors again. stop sabotaging the Arden Hills plan because it will have a retractable roof for all of the events that will be held there!

I've heard and read the complaints for years from this sage about the advantages that Wisconsin and Iowa have over Minnesota. What exactly are they? (or is it just whining)

I was at the 84-13 shellacking the Gophers received from Nebraska in the Metrodome. No offense to Mr. Kill, but I'm guessing the sell-out is largely due to a huge advance gate to Husker fans.

You got to get a kick out of Sid. He never fails to blame these unknown mysterious problems that are exclusively the fault of the U. No Sid, inept coaching and recruiting have been the primary problems for the past 50 years. It's that simple......

Nothing is better than college football and it would be nice for Minnesota fans to experience some winning college football. It's been way too long for Minnesota fans....All I need to say is Floyd of Rosedale, Paul Bunyan's Axe, Little Brown Jug....stroke the post, let's go! (copyright coach Kill)

If....only the Vikings had won just one Super Bowl, how many more would be in the Hall of Fame!!! Besides Mick, a case could be made for Fred Cox, Bobby Bryant, Ed White, and Chuck Foreman!!! Very well done Sid, I don't always agree with you on some things but I hope he and Jim Marshall, the two IRON MEN of not just Minnesota but in the entire history of the NFL get in some day! SKOL VIKINGS!!!

We don't all expect to win championships but we do expect the game to be interesting. Both the Vikings and Gophers promise to have interesting - exciting - games this year. Both are set up to have unpredictable offensive plays and risk taking defenses. GO GOPHERS, SKOL VIKINGS!

Mr. Hartman: Great column. No problems with your analysis But would appreciate your comments why Maturi failed to interview Glenn Caruso at the University of St. Thomas....perhaps the most dynamic young collegiate football coach in America? Bill UST '76, '82

Sid - you're so right when you say that there are some pro athletesthat won'tplay if they only have a hang nail. Wouldn't it be great to see all contracts be performance contracts, based on playing time and reaching incentives. Nowadays look around - he players are signing guaranteed contracts; why should they play when they know they're going to get paid even if they don't - look at the contract Vick just signed - $100,000,000 with 30M guaranteed. No wonder the average family can't buy a ticket.
