He also told American Legion that fiscal fixes would not come "on the backs of our veterans."

I'm all for supporting the Vets. They have served our country well and deserve everything coming to them. But instead of wasting time telling them nothing will change, maybe he could actually work on balancing the budget instead of flying his 747 all over the nation campaigning on the taxpayer's dime?

We have got to slash spending on the military/industrial/political complex by 70%. It is absolutely killing us; we can't afford to keep extravagantly "defending" against enemies when none exist. I'm sorry to see Obama pandering in this way . . .

Give me a break you two. Apparently for some folks, Obama can't do a damn thing correct. It is his job to maintain communication with the public. Flying all over the country in his 747 is our 747 which was determined that POTUS is required. The office goes with him, not he with the office. I remember the Republicans bitching that the Democrats let the military go backwards...aka Pres. Carter and thus Reagan built it up, starting our deficits. The republicans always seem to complain about deficits except for the DOD. Now, because of the tea party, deficits of any kind are being screamed about. The country still needs its military which happens to be the people in the forces. In cutting, don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Keeping trust with those in the military is of top priority of which the Commander-in-chief was ensuring. That's his job.

It'll be interesting to hear what Bachmann's speach is like. Somehow I figure she'll find a way to be pro-veteran while negating everything the President said. For those that said Bush's wars didn't cost much, try factoring in the present value of future veteran benefits as a result of the wars. I'm sure it'd make the bailouts and recent deficits look like a drop in the bucket.

I bet after the meeting the vets ran home, excited to be able to share in all the jobs Obama has created or will create. Let's see how many jobs has he created that lasted over six weeks? ZERO I should mention he has or wants to expand government jobs with new czars and agencies for Obamacare but I don't think many vets will get a chance to fill those positions.

You cannot trust this man to do what is right for those who have served their coutry. He and those on the left have done nothing but talk about what they would like to do while at the same time (when the camera's are not flashing or when the microphones are turned off) they continue to peal away the benefits we veteran have earned.

Hey CC...Obama is pandering that way becuase of VOTES. No and I mean NO ONE will ever tell the military or seniors that they will be making sacrifices. THEY VOTE religously. By the way, I saw LOTS of retired military during my vacation enjoying their 40' diesel pushers and towing their suvs. I guess you can do that when you retire at 50 with FULL pension and bennies.

I heard the thunderous (Not!) applause while he was speaking. A handful of people politely applauded.

Obama seems to put whoever he's speaking to at the "top" of his priorities. Anybody else catching on yet? Anyone out there?
