Bill Musgrave will play to his team's strengths, which means running the ball and throwing short passes.

i can already see the fans complaining about how boring the play calling is. we need to get webb in at receiver to have at least one deep threat.

Our 3rd and longs will be way more prevalent than our 3rd and shorts.

with the line we have i think booker and harvin would work well at running back. ad just dont seem to find openings like these smaller backs can. harvin and booker are smaller, quicker, and shifty runners. plus harvin is a better blocker than ad on third downs. i like gerhardt at fullback. with a good line, ad would be unstoppable, we have a good left guard and a ok right tackle. thats it.

You heard it here first: Bernard Berrian will be cut to make room for one of the young receivers.

I think what Frazier has overlooked is Atlanta realized, probably as soon as 0000 hit the clock in the Green Bay playoff game, that they HAVE TO HAVE explosive plays downfield and be able to generate points in the passing game against better teams, especially if they get behind 10-14 points. That was the main reason they traded a fortune to get Julio Jones to complement Roddy White. That made Jenkins expendable, who we picked up of the scrap heap. The Vikings don't have a player like Jones or White on this team, and I'm not holding my breath that Berrian will ever make defenses respect his downfield ability again. The fact that the Vikings will more than likely trout out at least two unproven players in their nickel defense (S Johnson/CB Cook/S Sanford), I'm absolutely salivating if I'm a passing team with MIN on our schedule (San Diego/New Orleans, GB twice, etc. MIN's offense simply may not be able to keep pace with opposing offenses on their schedule.

I see a lot of doubt from folks...this type of short O is just what this Oline needs...and with AP and Toby running the ball, I think they will surprise many folks...Dmac if he can stay healthy will be ok with this type of O...it is what he excelled at in Philly. Give them a chance to learn and play...I for one like a grind it out team.

Lot of people here with short memories, how did childress's offense work running Adrian and throwing a bunch of short passes. If you don't have a threat deep the defense does not have to play honest and running the ball becomes difficult at best. Have to hope when Harvin gets back he can be a threat down the middle of the field as well as the tight ends.

An Andy-Ried led team has NEVER been known as a grind it out team. McNabb can function in this type of offense, but he's never had a workhorse back behind him like Peterson. The league has changed. Grind it out offenses are still around, but most of the league has turned its nose up to those. Every team wants balance, if possible, but MIN will struggle, at least early in the season, with pass protection and explosive plays downfield, period. All that really means is the defense cannot afford to get off kilter and give up 20-plus points.

The best case scenario is a 2009-Favre approach where Peterson is in beast mode until the 3-4th game and hopefully McNabb will have a solid rapport with his receivers by then. At that point, we could possibly "unleash hell" on defenses (shout out to Mike Tomlin). Shiancoe, Harvin, offensive line issues and no offseason suggest it will take a little longer. Plus, there doesn't appear to be a whole lot of cupcakes in the first half the season. In 2009, we had the Browns, Rams, Lions and 49ers right out of the gate.
