I like to think that I am pretty realistic, but sometimes I let my heart take over my mind. Realism is where Im' at with Coach Kill and the Gophers. A successfull season for me will be to see a team that competes each and every week, winning the games they should win, and showing improvement in EVERY game. Maybe a little over achievement will allow a win that no one could see coming. But it might be a year too soon for that. My problem with Coach Brewster was that he did all of his coaching in the preseason and his team would start out like potential conference champs, and then it was all down hill from there. In the Brewster era there was not one season where his team was better at the end of year than they were at the beginning. And he NEVER had a season where you could say the Gophers over achieved. THAT is all about coaching.

We live 40 miles to the North-NW of LA in T.O. (Ventura Co.) ... LA is a very rude place and the Colosseum is a huge place with tons of history (2 Olympics, Super Bowls and the Trojans). The place will be full and rowdy for their first game. Although the Trojans are still on probation, they are playing to win them all, of course. What I have heard (and watched here) is that their QB and receivers are already in mid-season form, so watch out. Their defense is very talented and will maul the Gopher offensive line. This game could start off close (if the Gophers do not allow the crowd and opponents to psychologically intimidate them) until the the 4th quarter. USC 34 UM 13 [Hoping for a different result .. we'll see]

Not the game Kill would likely want to start his new tenure with, but if the team shows up and is respectable, it's a win for him. The national sympathy will be for the underdog Gophers.

As usual Iowa has no online newspaper or even the technology of a printing press so the hogeye fans are trolling from their suburban Twin Cities home, how else would they have internet and why else would they be reading Gopher stories in a twin cities paper. To irritate and make MN fans crazy? Nahhh, couldnt be....Iowa fans hold themselves on such a pedastal that they would never stoop that low.

I think those Hawkeye fans are still stinging from the whooping they took at TCF Bank stadium last year. Looking forward to the Gophers doing it again this year!
