Man, what a year this would be if the Vikings surprised us all and won a Super Bowl... I can dream, right?

What a great article! I feel the same about this team. I felt like the 1st game last year against NO was so intentional by the NFL and set the tone for our entire season in a way.NOT so much in the the outcome but rather the intensity and national scrunting the year would end up being.

You forgot to mention the following - no quality starting QB, still no general manager, no upgrade in the off season to address the declining offensive line, no upgrades in the off season to help one of the worst defensive backfields in the NFL, no new stadium, 51 seasons and counting with no Super Bowl/World Championship title, no local ownership of the franchise, no winning record for the next 3 to 5 years. All these fact mean one thing and one thing only my fellow purple homers and that is; no end to the "purple jinx"!!!

So nice without that has been Favre in camp. Wait, he never was in camp. Just glad he's gone for good. Go Vikes!

It's quiet now because the critics are complaining about the Twins and the Viking's regular season hasn't started. Enjoy the "quiet time" it won't last long. The problem wasn't Favre or Moss, it was the o-line, but I'm guessing everyone will realize that again in a couple weeks, if they don't improve and actually block for a change. I hope I am wrong, but the team performance and comments will prove my point.

now if we can finally break ground on a new stadium for the "Crown Jewel" of all sports franchises in the entire upper midwest, then and only then will things be much calmer around here! state representatives and legislators take note. it is disgraceful, pathetic, and very unMinnesotan for anybody around here to suggest that the Vikings leave town. I have a much better idea on that!

Not to be a downer, but the stadium issue is a serious cloud over the season. The bottom line is the lease is up this year. Hopefully the special session occurs, most likely in October, and they figure it out. If not, there will be no next season.

Anybody notice how Randy Moss simply disregarded Childress' disparaging comments about him with absolutely no response? It was the perfect way to shut Childress up and I hope the egotistical big mouth is never heard from again.

In a sense, last season was a blessing in that it purged a lot from the organization. If not more Moss, Chilly might still be here. If the season had been better Favre might have wanted to return again. I think Frazier is a great leader, and he's assembled a great cast around him. I also think in Musgrave we have a guy that is the "anti-Childress" in that he's flexible in scheming to make things work for each player. In addition to McNabb and Ponder (and Webb) looking good, they also ALL have the ability to escape the pocket and make plays (one stat I like about them is that they don't throw many picks per completions), putting less pressure on the line. With the addition of Rudolph (instant starter) we've got a great blocker and receiver, which helps in not having Rice. I think the Vikes will be at least 8-8, and possibly challenge for a playoff spot. Last year I remember the pre-season starting horribly, and the team never got in sync. This year is much the opposite, and while the Pack is pretty stacked, the Bears and Lions are totally beatable. Can't wait for the season to start!
