Reusse: Rotation needs fixing, so Cuddyer must go

Any salary the Twins can free up should go toward securing a hard-throwing No. 1 starter and a No. 2 guy who is better than their other options.

The elephant standing in the room is overpaid Joe Mauer

My marriage will be much safer if he leaves. I will miss him though, true professional and class act!

I agree in theory that the rotation needs a big upgrade. But I think you're picking an arbitrary payroll figure out of thin air. If the Pohlads decided they want to spend more money, they absolutely could.

A month ago I would have agreed on Perkins, but he has been shaky at best lately. Ever since the nice article in the paper he has looked alot like the pitcher we thought he was coming into the year. His ERA has only gone up a run, but every run he inherits scores.

You're spot on, Patrick. It's always hard to let a beloved (pass his prime) veteran go, but GM's need to be forward looking. Unlike last year with Delmon, hopefully B. Smith will see Cuddy's value has never been higher. Send him off now for some draft picks, save the cash, and reinvest in years beyond. Ohh and last, please PLEASE get rid of Nishioka at SS. He CANNOT be a part of this squad past this year.

Sorry Pat, Sorry Justin and Joe, but Cuddy is the heart and soul of what is left of this team!

The twinks could have had Greinke for 13.5 mill a year, which goes to show that if you dump the most overpaid singles hitter in history (mauer) you can get at least two top notch starter.

The problem with this thinking is to assume that our current GM would know what a true #1 and #2 starter look like.

Mauer should be traded, no question about it. He would bring a decent return (if the front office does its job this time - lol) and would relieve a huge amount of $$ from the payroll. Can't afford him - it's like the family on food stamps with the Ferrari in the driveway.
