One thing is always for sure in a Sid Hartmann column. The guy is the biggest name dropper of all time.

Sid didn't know that Thome formerly played 3rd Base? Evidently he didn't watch the playoffs and World Series in the mid '90s.

Really, Louie Nanne finished the tournament with 1 goal and 1 assist?? Who cares!

It's somewhat alarming to hear that Coach Kill's contract has not been finalized. What in the hell is the holdup? As for Tubby and Don, I'm very disappointed that extensions are even on the table. Neither one of these dudes has done anything to warrant extensions. Has the administration already forgotten how miserable their teams performed? The fans certainly haven't !

Sid must be slipping (even more than most of us imagine). He mentioned Eden Prairie High School sports without giving credit to Mike Grant. That's a first. If you read and listen to Sid, Mike is responsible for everything that goes right at EP - from football success to snow plowing in the parking lot.

If Thome may end up in Philly, trade him now, WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR ? ? ? All three starting outfielders are out, Span maybe for the season, and Delmon out forever. GET SOME OUTFIELDERS! Maybe get some pitchers too. and some infielders. maybe a catcher. See if Charlie will come back home too while you're at it.

So, who is holding out here. Kill or the U? What in the world could be the difficulty? Does Kill now think that he could catch on with just about any University so he's driving a hard bargain for guarantees? Is the U on the verge of never paying for a sealed contract after a firing? Man, if this could only be about the sport and not about all these fiascos. Would one of you please negotiate for them?

Really Sid, you didn't know that Thome was a 3B? Anyone who can actually use a computer and look his stats can see that he was a 3B for his first 6 MLB years/stints. HOW surprising--the Internet has information!

Why anyone would want to extend Smith's contract is beyond me. That man is a train wreck.
