The temptation for the university of Miami to cheat and try to catch up with the U's National Titles was too great. Miami gave in and must now pay the consequences. I have a feeling the NCAA will slap the wrist like they will do to Ohio State another cheating school.

Let's be realistic--do you think the NCAA will ever permit the football players to receive $300/month--but those on women's gymastics, they'll get 'bupkis?' It doesn't matter to the NCAA what the options are--if one scholarship athlete is getting less than another, they'd be against it. If one native American is offended by a team's mascot, it has to go. However, if one D-I University in a state is receiving 4x the TV revenue of another in the same state (e.g., USC v Clemson) they have no problem with that.

It has taken awhile, but Wisconsin has kept recruiting players who not only can play and are tough-minded, but that are also pretty good citizens: that goes for football and basketball and it's why I think they've had consistent success. It's not without a bad apple here and there but the great majority of Badger athletes are quality kids. I think that's the challenge for Jerry Kill, and it's why I think he is the right coach for Minnesota. I just have a sense that he is the guy who can do this the right way.

O course, the young men are subject to temptations upon coming to college just as are any other young men (and women) being away from home for the first time and so on. So what as such is life. The only thing that always makes me curious about such matters is why older and supposedly mature adults (usually males)apparently have an unending need to rub elbows with 18-20-year old jocks let alone to provide them with extra benefits and assistance. I am sure that such folks drive athletic directors absolutely nuts at times!

I would want my kids to play for Coach Kill.

Initially I wanted Leach. Imagine if he was here when this story broke . . . gulp. MT8791 is correct, Kill is the right coach for this program. This whole story is awful for college athletics. USC, Ohio State, and now this. Even I am losing interest in college FB.

This reminds me of Osama Bin Laden: journalists could find him and interview him but the CIA could not. Everyone involved in Florida college FB knew there were problems at Miami years ago and only recently the NCAA is getting up to speed on it. The NCAA is ruining college athletics.

I know that there are many people upset with how slow the NCAA works sometimes. But try to keep this in perspective. Two of the biggest names in college football have been hit and hit hard. A third is going to be. NONE of these schools is a podunk type school. So lets see what's going to happen to Miami. As far as I'M concerned, Miami should get the death penalty for at a bare minimum of THREE years. It won't happen, but that's what I'd like to see.
