Glad you enjoy it because the reality is that it's a monstrosity that bankrupted the Minneapolis Library system. It was terribly designed and, as a result is enormously expensive to operate. But that can't be undone, so I'm glad some people are enjoying it.

While I've only lived in Mpls five years- I too absolutely love the Central Library. I find it so inviting. And since I'm getting my MLIS, I do have an affinity for libraries :)

The downtown library did not bankrupt the library system. It was built on bond money, bond money from 10 years previous to it being built. If you know anything about govt budgets, bond money cannot be used for operating expenses, only capital budgets.
