Janet is one of Minnesota's own. She's dynamic on stage and had her greatest collaborations with home-town musical geniuses Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Friday's concert will be a loving homecoming for our queen of the Rhythm Nation!

I remember when she was a young lady and played at First Ave. I was standing upstairs and she walked past and accidentally stepped on my foot, and she had the courtesy to turn back, put her arm on my shoulder and apologize, sincerely. She endeared herself to me with that polite gesture and I never forgot it. She is a classy lady in my book!

Janet Jackson is not one of "Minnesota's own". She wasn't born or raised here, and she doesn't live here. Her only connection is that she recorded some of her songs in a studio here.

If you like that kind of "music", then you might enjoy that show. But for those of us who prefer real music — the kind where you can understand the words, the artists know more than 3 chords, and everything isn't overdubbed with synthesizer effects — we'll gladly pass on that show.

Janet worked hand in hand with Jimmy and Terry and they played a huge role in her success, much as with Prince's. She spent an large amount of time in their studio and working under their tutalage and guidance...and it paid off nicely for all parties involved.

I lived in Mpls during the Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis, Janet Jackson, & Prince era - Loved them all!!! Prince in person, is a bit vertically challenged; but on stage, he's larger than life.

I've seen Janet the last 3 times she's been in town and played at the Target Center. She truly puts on an amazing show that rivals Prince and Michael Jackson. It's so great to hear her lyrics about her experiences in Minneapolis. She truly is a Minneapolis artist in my mind. Can't wait to have some fun and dance like crazy tomorrow night!
