Every journey begins with one small step.

Isn't that precious!

I like the idea, but I don't have a smart phone or an ipad. Couldn't they have printed up a small number of programs for those of us that are behind the times? (btw...I'm all for recycling the program when I'm done with it!)

Simplyheidi - if you plan to come to the event, we will make sure you have all the necessary information.

simplyheidi: The article mentioned that there are screens around to showcase this information. I agree; not everyone has a smart phone (my smart phone is extremely limited and I use it to check the weather radar, my email, and the Strib top articles when I'm on vacation; it has a limited data plan).

I'm pleased to hear of these initiatives. Conservation of resources benefits all. And composting is becoming more commonplace, more accepted. The Living Green Expo has been composting for all 10 years; even the MN State Fair has begun composting. It makes sense in a financial way; that waste gets turned into a viable product (soil amendments or simply soil for garden centers).

The forest is there to harvest. We have more forest right now then whne the europeans settled.

Just think Minnesota at one time was completely clear cut.

So where is this windmill outside the excell center?

Green is becoming a dirty word.

SO how much is there in the waste to have a smart phone that gets replaced every two years. Think of all the mining that had to take place for the metals. Then shipped from a foreign country to the uSA market. The thing with green is you need to look at the whole picute.

The trees are renewable. The minerals, plastics, etc are not.

Wake up people and really look at green.

muskiedog: People are going to have a smart phone regardless of initiatives done at an event. No one went out and bought one just to bring it to this event. As I stated earlier, conservation/finding a economic business stream for waste benefits everyone.

Thanks, usagym1! I am hoping to come out and watch! Mellers...Yes, they may have the info on screens, but while I'm sitting in my seat and want to quick look up info on a gymnast, I don't want to have to walk in and out over the rest of the people in my row! That would be quite annoying for all involved :-)
