People complaining he's too hard on his players??? I wish my boys could have gotten a free ride to college, well they didn't!!! So don't feel too sorry for them, they can always quit the program and be faced with trying to find a job after school in this economy!!!!

I really do like the direction coach Kill is pushing this program! He is the type of coach that we need that will preach hard work and dedication and just how to be a flat out good person. With our incoming freshman in 2012 I think we can win some games!

Kill sounds a lot like Paterno. Hey, we could have ended up with Hoke, who I predict will be exposed as a fraud by the end of the year and seems to have taken "bluster" lessons from none other than Tim Brewster.

That last paragraph finally put me over the edge. I've officially drank the Kill Kool-Aid. What great quote and what college sports is supposed to be. The winning will come as a by-product if he succeeds in what he sets out to do there. But that is what it's really about. Not making profits or selling tickets or whatever. Go Gophers.

It appears (for now, at least) that Maturi has stumbled into a good hire. I like Coach Kill, and he does indeed look like the sort of coach that could make this program respectable (or maybe even great) again. I hope, however, that people don't get discouraged if his first year isn't terrific. Turning around a program like ours takes time and hard work. We won't know how good Kill really is for another three or four years. But I am optimistic.

We'll know right away how good Kill is. We'll notice if the players jump off sides at critical points in the game. We'll notice if the players know their assignments and have the discipline to carry them out. We'll notice if the team quits because the other team is ahead. It won't be the W's and L's but the grit, discipline and determination of the team that tells us how well Kill is doing.

I can't believe so many people are falling for this. It is all HOT AIR until results are shown on the football field. Kill is selling his program, he's just got a different way of doing it than Brewster. Neither way is "better", it just matters who actually can put a product on the field capable of competing for a Big Ten championship. These stories about educational experiences will be mocked if the Gophers are at .500 or worse 2-3 years down the road. In fact, someone will make a joke about Kill being the one to wear the "I let my teammates down" t-shirt at some point during his first year. I hope he succeeds, but I wish we had a better AD who could have landed a coach with BCS experience.

I like this guy a lot, but he is clearly delusional if he actually believes that his job is to educate his players or somehow teach them to be better men. Statements like that make me doubt everything else he has to say. If anything, education is a by-product of his primary job, which is winning football games. If he fails to win, he will become - sad to say - merely another in a long line of bums. I wish him nothing but the best. He's the type of guy you want to see succeed.

You sure have to love people who just look at negative things in life (glumps and purplehaze 77) and no positivity, be great to hang around you two. I also love when people say we should have hired a BCS coach, well where do you think a lot of the top coaches have come from? It obvious that you two have never played sports or you might understand what coach Kill is trying to do with his players, it will make them better people and players. If you do like it go cheer for someone else who pays their players.
