Shower gel in and bar soap out? It might be time to stock up on some favorite items getting squeezed out by shrinking stores and an excess of new products.

I know there are bigger problems in the world, but it’s the basic staples, the little comforting things that I miss. My fave deodorant (Soft & Dri, in a can), can only be found in a stupid stick now – yuck. St. Ives Olive Scrub is now only avail on Amazon. Clinique discontinued Whimsy lipstick. It’s madness!

I HATE bath gels! You don't get sudsy from them, so you don't feel like you're getting clean. Then there's the whole factor of you use more of them at one time than you do soap, so in the long run, you spend more having to re-purchase it all the time. Don't even get me started on the plastic bottles in land-fills.

The government should not "regulate" a product out of existance such as incandescent bulbs. If the product is dangerous then screw up your courage and ban it altogether but regulating something away is simply the government picking a winner and a loser in the market place rather than letting the consumer decide which product best suits their needs. As far as CFLs go - they work like crap in cold temperatures, are incredibly expensive when compared to standard bulbs, are classified as a hazardous material if broken (yep, EPA guidelines), and from my experience do NOT last near as long as advertised.

Madness is 13 different varieties of Cheerios on the shelf at Cub BEFORE you count multiple box sizes. Bill G.

f course, all this ridiculous proliferation of flavors, causes constant reshuffling of shelves and dramatically increases the likelihood of anyon single variety being out of stock. Ever-changing shelf locations and the need to manually restock 4 times as many different products all lead to increased labor costs and susequently food prices, not to mention frustrated customers who feel like idiots when they can't find what they want because it moved to a different aisle (AGAIN!). Bill G.

Talking about bar soap brings up the image of suds, and since we started with the word bar, I think I will go to one and have them pour me a tall one. Bill G.

I find that powdered detergent is often more thorough for hand-washables.
