Why does Minnesota continue to feel the need to be involved in every national event that they have no tie to? My husband was in the Pentagon on 9/11, the plane stopped 50 yards from his office. He and his co-workers were able to escape without injury, however it was over 5 hours before they were able to contact family. It was harrowing for both of us; he was not aware it was a plane that hit the building for hours, I was at my company's HQ and could see the smoke pouring out of the building as I drove home. We both went to work the next day (yes, he went to work at the Pentagon the next day). Now Marshall is building a memorial to the Twin Towers. What about the victims of the Pentagon? What about the victims at Shanksville? Why a memorial in Marshall? So you can say you are the "first" in Minnesota to have a memorial? It's not as if someone from Marshall died on 9/11 in New York, Washington, or Pennsylvania. May God bless those who died as a result of terrorism.

auntiecece- isn't it ridiculous? it's almost like they are sad they missed out on the tragedy, so they have to haul a piece of junk back to rural minnesota so they can somehow appropriate the event for themselves. Of course, anyone who doesn't emote all over about 9/11 is not a true patriot. $400000 to plant this piece of debris in downtown Marshall. Think of the amount of food that could have been bought for starving somali children with that money.

Why must people like auntiecece & carlson crap all over a memorial like the one going up in Marshall?? Why can't you simply understand that it is important for everybody everywhere in this country to remember what that day means & represents to all citizens of the U.S.? Why must one have been personally touched by tragedy that day? Weren't we all?? I can't speak for anybody other than myself, but anybody who died in the 9/11 attack, whether at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon or in PA, ALL of them are being recognized at this memorial being built in Marshall.

This event affected everyone in the country to one extent or another. I know Craig and Mark personally and these guys did this for the right reasons. To honor all who died that way. I understand the pain runs deep for some of us and that will never go away and we will never forget, but rest assured that this is being done by people who care.

I cannot believe that auntiecece and carlson would even have the nerve to say something like that. Auntiecece- If your husband would have died that day how would you feel if something was put up to honor him? Its honoring all victims, the beam just happens to be from the Twin Towers. All they are trying to do is put something up to remember the lives that were lost. Are you expecting us to feel bad that you had to go to work the next day? Get off your high horse, unreal.
