Patrick,to actually witness you write something some what positive about our Vikings without venom spewing out of your mouth makes me almost trip over my mint condition 1976 Vikings bean bag chair. the same chair I watched Drew Pearson push Nate Wright down to the ground to haul in that wobbly Roger Staubach duck in.they say holding a grudge for more than 40 years is hard on your health. it is nice to see that you are finally taking your doctors advice! Go Vikes, p.s. Arden Hills is my new favorite town in the whole world. sorry Bloomington.

Sadly, for as long as I've been alive, I've never seen the vikings be able to stop the pass effectively. I dont see that changing anytime soon.

Why are the doom and gloom fans? Flash back to one year ago, the Vikings were coming off a play away from being in the Super Bowl. Sure feelings were bitter about the loss, but fans were optimistic one year ago.... HOWEVER, consider this from a year ago, compared to today; 1. Favre was NOT in camp yet and fans were up in arms about the prospects of TJack as the starter... Today, we are in better shape with McNabb and hopefully the QB of the future of Ponder on the roster. 2. A year ago Rice was not practicing. He and his agent punked out on the team and didn't have surgery, holding the team hostage and forcing the Camarillo and Moss trades. Today, we are at least equal with Michael Jenkins signed, a supposed re-newed Berrian, a healthy and energized Jaymer Johnson and Camarillo in for a full camp. If Percy can avoid the maigraines, we are in solid shape. 3. Addition by subtraction. All fans agree, McKinnie has been an underachiever his whole career. Name one highlight during his career? All that sticks out in my mind is the Love Boat incident, the embarrassing Pro Bowl party attitude, and Julius Peppers repeatedly running past him like a saloon door. Charlie Johnson will have at least equal results on the field. 4. A year ago fans were moaning about the loss of Chester Taylor. Well, Toby Gerhart is a year wiser and will step up his game this year. Sure there are issues unanswered.... will the secondary step up? Will the D-line gel with new additions? But with two new coordinators and a head coach who makes the players accountable, we could sneak up on some teams this year. Before burying the team, lets give the new players and staff a chance to prove the negative fans wrong.

Since the mid eighties. Joey browner. Carl lee. Robert Griffith. Winfield. That's it. We have a pathetic history of bend but don't break defense. But wait, it gets worse. Name One all pro linebacker since 1985... So anyways... Yeah, we've been abused by tight ends for decades. I'm over it. Old Man sharper left here to a new system in N O and was all pro. I'm tired of having a toothless secondary. We need more Pick offs. And not by down lineman off tips. Take away winfields pick sixes and who do we have? Reggie Rutland in '87 vs Joe Montana?! I'm Serious here

It always amazed me when people picked on our defensive backfield as "the problem." If you watch the films of last years defensive line, you will see that Jared Allen took the year off, and the Williams Wall idea of a pass rush on second down was to stand up and try to jump. Now, I don't care how good you are in the defensive secondary, if you give any NFL quarterback as much time as we did, the secondary IS going to be toast, but we insist it is the secondary. I'll even go one step further. In the late 60's was our defensive backfield that good? Nope, pretty slow actually, but they benefited from four things, Eller, Marshall, Page, and Larsen. If Allen mails it in again this year, I would find a bench for him to sit on for awhile.

It's definitely time for Tyrell Johnson to step up and prove he isn't another small college second round mistake like T-Jack. This is a make or break year for him, and the Vikings obviously need him to be successful.

Johnson is starting to remind me of Willie Offord. Hopefully he stops those memories now! I agree with toui that our DB's haven't been very good, but I disagree about his view on the LBs. We've had some very talented LBs through the years, Ed McDaniel, Greg Biekert, Jack Delrio, and now EJ Henderson and Chad Greenway

Did some checking on Mistral Raymond. His teamates, called him skinny. He runs a slow 4.6 40yd. IMO, a wasted draft pick, and he will be cut. Hope I am wrong, BTW.

I'm still confused on why the Vikings had to resort to get McNabb. His time with the Redskins was alomost non- existant, Then getting benched towards the end of the season. He could still be a good QB, but we gotta have a really strong running game and not depend on the pass. Peterson is outstanding, and I hope he has someone to help carry the load at RB also? Don't forget, McNabb is the same person who when it came to a overtime game, he had no clue on the OT rules were? That press conferance he just had, to much ego, and needed to serious up to his new team, the media and especially the fans paying alot of money for tickets. He could be a good QB this season, and actually, I do think it was the right move to get him.
