NFL Newtwork is reporting that we are giving the Redskins a 6th rounder in the 2012 draft and possibly 2013 for Mcnabb.....

Yea I saw that also on VikingsDaily.com, what a great deal to get a potential hall of fame player for two low round picks, hopefully we'll make the contract structure work out to fit in the tight cap space we have

According to ESPN, NFL Network, Pro Football Talk the deal is done if McNabb agree's to restructure his contract. McNabb laid a beatdown on the Vikes in the playoffs a couple years back. He played decent with the Redskins. What his stats didn't show was that Clinton Portis got injured in the 3rd game & the skins had no RB help & that the Skins receivers dropped so many passes. McNabb can throw it deep. This could turn out really well. Maybe Rice stays now. Get Moss back.

Realize if we pull this off, this will be the best option. Thigpen is heading back with Chan Gailey in Buffalo, Hasselback will not come here as the Vikes are looking a short term starter, and he wants to be the man. We drafted Ponder to be the guy, but with the lockout, he will not be ready. Most Rookie QB's fail with a full off season. McNabb if he comes will come with the understanding he is there to mentor. At this point in his career McNabb should be happy for that.

I don't get why some are down on this? It's low risk high reward. Are you going to throw out a rookie with no experience, no OTA's or minicamps and not one snap in the NFL? McNabb might just have something left like Farve did. Everyone thought he was washed up and we got one play from the SB. Rodgers was mentored by Farve and it served him well. You take the chance of ruining him if you rush him. We still have a good crew of players in place. If they can resign Rice even better. I say why not. If he falters or gets hurt hand the keys off to Ponder, the rewards outweigh the risks.

I think the old QB/new QB mentoring thing is overrated. I never see or hear about Manning, Brees, and Brady taking guys under their wing. Heck, who took them under their wing? Nobody.

NO!! Please NO McNabb!!!! another washed up QB who wants to get paid way too much for what's he's worth!!!!! Orton or Hassleback are way better QB's than McNabb!!!!!

@minnfidel11 - McNabb is actually a medium risk NO REWARD kind of player. He will deliver NOTHING like he has in Philly and Washington. You are not actually purple challenged enough to believe that he is going to suddenly wake up and be as good as he was 12 years ago when he was in his prime???

He was expendable when the Chargers drafted Rivers. Manning was a number 1 pick and didn't need a mentor.

Donovan McNabb. A good young Irish Lad. From County Cork I suspect. And pretty darn good at football too. Yea! for Minnesnowta.
