General Mills' Yoplait has lost market share after a surprising takeoff by "Greek-style" yogurt in recent years.

You can keep Yoplait, etc. Best greek yogurt around is Athenos, especially the plain & honey. It is creamier & richer then any of the rest. Too bad the only place I can buy it is Rainbow.

I've been making my own using Dannon plain fat free yogurt. I put it in a colander that is lined with cheese cloth over night and the liquid drips out. Mix in vanilla extract and just enough powdered sugar to give it a slight bit of sweetness.

I agree - Chobani, Athenos or Fage are the best Greek varieties. One of my favorite breakfasts is Athenos honey yogurt with granola mixed in. Since it has extra protein, it stays with you longer than typical yogurt. I've tried the Yoplait stuff and actually wrote them about how horrible it was! It had this awful chemical aftertaste. So gross. Random greek yogurt fact - it is a better choice for those of us who are lactose intolerant because the straining process they use reduces the presence of lactose greatly.

Good luck General Mills! There are financial consequences for not paying attention.

I was excited to try Yoplait's greek yogurt, as it was priced significantly lower than the other greek yogurt offerings. After tasting their's, I realized it is worth spending more on Fage, Chobani, Athenos or one of the other premium brands (Fage with honey is my favorite). Yoplait seems to be great at making sweet, creamy yogurt, but it appears tastes are changing!

Check yoplaits label. I believe it has corn syrup, and or high fructose. Athenos doe not.

SSWAIN60 - don't forget that yummy aspartame. Yoplait is more like a 'yogurt product' than real yogurt. The dairy version of spam.

Yoplait=HFCS (WAY too sweet), lots of preservatives, use of hormone laden milk, etc. I have called to explain that their yogurt is too sweet and they (customer service representative) said they (General Mills) is working on reducind sugar. Take the sugar out. The fruit is sweet enough, add a little honey and it's plenty sweet.

Hey, General Mills, maybe one of the reasons Yoplait's share is "rapidly eroding" is because you put HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP in it. Try something called SUGAR instead. It's much healthier.
