If a criteria to the Hall was being nice to fans, Bert woulda made it years ago. As a Teen I got as close to the bullpen as I could,where Bert was warming up for a game in the Old Met. I snuck down and hung on the rail for a closer look and when he was finished he walked right by me and I yelled "hey Bert, how many warmup pitches do you throw?" he turned, looked at me and smiled and said over 100". With a shocked look I asked, and now your gonno go throw over 100 more in the game"?. He chuckled as he kept walking and answered "I hope so". He never had a Ego Too big to be nice. Tony-O should be in too. The Most Feared hitter of his day. Also one of the Nice Guys of the Game.

I am a long time fan of Jim Kaat. He not only was a fabulous pitcher but was also a great hitter for a pitcher...especially in 1965. His #36 should have been retired long before some of the others.

Bert isn't a Hall of Famer and the writers should be ashamed for putting him in. However, Jack Morris and Tony Oliva belong in the Hall and are getting screwed.

the hall of fame used to be for greatness , not anymore though,blyleven getting in is a sad joke, the hall used be an honor for guys like steve carlton,bob gibson , tom seaver, not .500 pitchers who set records for most homeruns allowed in a season.

I think Bert should have been in long before now. He must have irritated a rather large number of the people who vote. I can only speculate on how many games he might have won if he had been with good ballclubs his entire career.

Before Maddux took over the lead with 18, Kaat had the most gold gloves as a pitcher with 16.

Bert's induction will be symblomatic of Twins baseball. He will be going in not just for himself, but also representing two different era's of Twins baseball. The only player to have been on teams with either Harmon Killebrew or Kirby Puckett, not to mention having played with ALL the players in the Twins Hall of Fame makes Bert a very unique player in Twins history. With that aside, I was wondering how a player that won multiple (3) A.L. batting titles with a career .304 average (Tony Oliva), or a player with 16 Gold Gloves in his career (Jim Kaat)can be left out of the Hall of Fame?
