Asdrubal Cabrera might be the next great shortstop acquired by Cleveland from Seattle.

Good read,Patrick.I wish teh Twins ahd grabbed OC to mentor the young infielders. Two years ago Casilla had his best season with OC pushing him while playing SS.Veteran presence in the clubhouse cannot be understated. You need the vet show these young guys they have to push their talents beyond the acceptable, push to the maximum.Having such young infield can be problematic.

We used to have a shortstop that was given to us. I believe Hardy hit his 14th HR tonight.

What a great column....it is going to be fun to watch this young star keep improving. He may haunt the Twins for years to come.

kennyrogers..yes indeed,,and Hardy just signed a three year deal. When the Twins add up the Millions paid just to talk to Nishi, in addition to his contract, Hardy looks like a steal. But if there was a way the Twins could send Nishi to AAA without hurting his ego, he could sure use some serious development time on his fundamentals. It too early to tell if there is a great SS in the makeing here, but he truly is a bit off the rails now.

It would be nice to have Hardy considering what he has done this year. Given his past 3 seasons with the Brewers and Twins, who would have thought he would rebound. And plus he's batting lead off. Do you really think Gardy would have ever batted Hardy lead off? Odd game this game of baseball. Nice to see Mauer getting it going. To bad he wasted the first 3 months of the season.

The Hardy move will haunt the Twins for the next 5-6 years.....stupid.....proven shortstop who is now healthy and can play.....what a pathetic front office move......

Who cares if OC saw a player that he could push with the Reds last season, the question that should have been asked is if he saw a player like that with the Twins. Since it wasn't even mentioned, he probably was asked and said no. Also, I think the money the Twins paid just to talk to Nishi is like a deposit on his contract. So it's not talking money plus contract, it's contract minus talking money that they owe him.

Keep in mind that Nishi was brought here to play 2nd base! Yes, he played short in Japan, but this wasnt the plan for him here. On the other hand tho, considering the $$$ paid to get him, thus far he has been a bust. Hopefully, this year IS his AAA year and we have a great shortstop and hitter for years to come.

OCab: if he can't be a legend, he has to make up a legend! Yep, if it wasn't for OCab, Votto wouldn't have won the MVP for Cincy last year. And now OCab is the reason the Indians' shortstop is outperforming everyone's expectations!? Give me a break, OCab is a MLB re-tread and a legend in his own mind. I sure hope Patrick wrote that last line as a dig, because it's not hard to see OCab is a blowhard!

I know there are a lot of comments about Hardy, but it’s not like they don't have any merit. I was against the trade, the guy wasn't even healthy last year. Bill Smith needs to go, he's been wrong on A LOT of stuff. Also his hesitation to trade players is embarrassing. What if both Kubel and Cuddy walk after this year for nothing?
