The temps took a toll at Target Field, and a "cooling center" opened in Rochester, but by Thursday it'll be mostly over.

Get out and enjoy it. You still can mow your lawn or take a walk for a 2-3 hours. Try doing that with a temp around zero.

raineyroo - I do not know many people who would want to be out in this for 2-3 hours. Taking my dog for a 20 minute walk is enough for us both. I will take my air conditioned office and a days worth of work over being outside for 3 hours with a heat index of 118 any day.

Weather is never good enough for Minnesotans. It's too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter. Give them -20F and they'll wish it were July. Then July comes along with some real summer weather and they pine for snow. Blech.

How about putting a caption on the photo? It is nice that you included names, but what are they doing and how is it related to the article? Inquiring minds want to know!

We live in the land of extremes. When I consider being out walking, not very many months ago, and wondering how all that snow was ever going to melt. Yesterday i went walking for about 15 min. and that was about enough. My glasses fogged over when I stepped outside. This climate is amazing in its seasonal variations.

when it was 118 here in Phoenix a couple weeks ago, the heat index was 118. NO AWFUL Humidity. I'll take this over that Crap you experience in Minnesota anyday. Having done my first 17 years in Minnesota weather, I now have done 34 years of weather outside Minnesota. I think October is the month I can only go back to Minnesota BECAUSE of the weather.

Well, we DO have roughly a 150-degree average temperature range here. Hopefully all those non-Minnesotans that think we live under a permanent layer of snow and ice are paying attention. I'll have to say, though, that yesterday was positively tropical. It's interesting watching the outsides of my windows pick up condensation from the cool glass and the high humidity outside. Still, it beats -20F and 18 inches of snow any day.
