Colossal HR by Thome, good closing by Burnett, Perkins and Nathan, and a decent start by Duensing. A few wins against Cleveland and the Twins will make a race of it!

Gardy's always stuck with young players because he knows they can bring a spark, but it's time to give fans and the team a break from Valencia at third. He's a sub-par fielder, poor base-runner (he's rarely on base, so he's a little short of practice there) and is back to being clueless against righties - and veteran lefties. No idea what to do with an offspeed pitch. Thought he was figuring it out, but he's going backwards again. For that doubleheader Monday, the Twins need someone over there who can put the bat on the ball against a rightie and who doesn't double-pump before he makes a throw to first. Pablo Sandoval of the Giants is still a little overweight and just 24, yet he's a way better fielder and hitter than Valencia, who's nearly 27. Maybe the kid needs to figure out he's not going to the Hall of Fame and he'll start to play within in abilities.

Thome!!! Number 25, you are a living legend. Your humility and class are in the same league as our beloved number 3. You two are and were all that is good about baseball.

Who said Baker to DL? Twins are sending a position player down fro an extra pitcher, but maybe two pitchers up now?

Bad news on Baker but hopefully he'll be ready to go on Thursday or Friday. Tomorrow is going to be an interesting day. Congrats Big Jim. Tiggies and Indians are within sight!
