When we judge a neighbor as a neighbor, we will have succeeded.

Why does the media always make it about race? Why can't we just be americans?

Race, race, race... If the media would stop talking about it, it wouldn't even be an issue.

I know this isn't a huge deal but it does annoy me a little. If you were born in America and you have African descendents you are American African not the other way around. I am American Finnish not Finnish American I have never even been to Finland. Further more being American African or as most people mistakenly say African American it does not denote skin color.

For those who would like the media to stop talking about race, believing that it, as an issue, would disappear, think again. The media rarely discussed race in the '50s yet it was an issue and remains an issue today. We need to talk more about race, not less. This story is simply about demographics, there is no editorializing. That said, get your heads out of the sand!

Maybe if we don't discuss crime, it too will no longer be an issue!

Actually, from a grammatical perspective, saying "Finnish American" is correct. In English, the modifier comes before the noun. So you say "red apple" instead of "apple red." I don't hand you a red--I hand you an apple. I'm an American, first and foremost, as are you. That's why it's " American."

This has been going on for years and years in a lot of cities. It's not really about race, it's about economics. The newest "people" are usually on the bottom rung of the ladder. As they move up, the next wave moves in a takes their jobs and housing. Right now, the Latinos are on the bottom rung (an argument could be made saying they share it with the Somalis). Eventually, the Latino population will become more established in the community and they will move up the ladder. Then the next wave of people, whoever that will be, will be on the bottom rung.
